ELABORATION
1. The first step is to paint the reused cupcake papers as you like. We used yellow, red, orange, and blue. Once dry, we fold the papers into a nice shape that resembles a flower.
2. To make the flower pot, we will use the recycled cardboard that comes with the cupcake or sponge cake packages. We take advantage of the edge, which has beautiful wavy details, as this will give our pot a more elegant touch. We cut half of the cardboard and shape it into a pot. Then, we paint it with the colors we like best; in our case, we used white and added blue dots to simulate polka dots. After that, we let it dry.
3. The next step is to use the remaining piece of cardboard. We paint it with our preferred colors; we used green and blue. Then, we cut out several leaf-shaped pieces (depending on each person’s taste). For the leaves, you can also use store-bought or recycled cardstock.
4. Next, it’s time to assemble all the pieces. On a piece of cardstock in your preferred color (we used white), we glue the cardboard that represents the pot. Then, we bring our creation to life by gluing the flowers on top, as if they were growing out of the pot. We also add the leaves.
5. Finally, we add the finishing touch by using another piece of cardstock in a preferred color (we chose blue) to create a frame around the pot. You can add a message next to your pot. Once this is done, it’s ready to be gifted to your mother!
