La Granja is a family business born in 1959. From the very first day, producing products as best we know and ensuring a great taste has been an inalienable value for us. This was the case with the first traditional specialties that made us known and it has continued to be so throughout our career, incorporating new developments in our line.
Advancing to the needs and wishes of consumers has made us a benchmark for quality and innovation in our food products sector. In the 1980s La Granja pioneered the creation of specialties catering for different dietary needs, which today form part of our Diet range. We later launched the Bio line, which uses only organic farming ingredients. They have followed the Vegan line for strictly vegan consumption and production separated from the product range Without Gluten.
By our commitment to quality, we in La Granja are required to deliver fresh produce, and this can only be achieved by preparing it every day. It makes no sense for us to select the best ingredients so that, once produced, the product is not distributed immediately and quality is lost. Faced with the dilemma of higher quality or higher productivity, the interests of our consumers always prevail in La Granja.
As well as producing the traditional products that illuminated our beginnings, a constant in La Granja has been the concern to always go further. From the first specialties, such as whole magdalena or no sugars added, to responding to new consumption alternatives, with products with ecological ingredients or with fruit and vegetables, as well as with ecological product lines, vegans and gluten-free products.
We have the IFS 23 certificate with a High Level result, which is already 9 years in a row and which has achieved IFS certification on an annual basis.
What is the IFS FOOD certification?
At La Granja Foods, we have the IFS 2023 certificate with a High Level result, and we have now obtained the IFS certification annually for 9 years.
IFS Food is a food safety standard recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) to audit companies which manufacture food. Also companies that handle and package bulk food products, concentrating on food quality and safety of the products processed.
La Granja Foods and Social Responsibility
Since its origins, La Granja has been especially aware and sensitive to the integration of people with functional diversity.
That is why we collaborate with organizations dedicated to helping people with disabilities or special needs.
La Granja collaborates with Fundació L’Espiga de Vilafranca del Penedès, since its creation in 1991. The purpose of this local entity is to promote assistance, education and generic and specific training, and, in general, any activity that favors the social inclusion of people with disabilities. (www.fundaciolespiga.com) La Granja regularly cooperates with Fundació Pro-Penedès, which seeks the social and economic promotion of the region by carrying out, among others, job placement activities with people with any type of physical, mental or sensory impairment and at risk of social exclusion. Another of La Granja’s collaboration channels is with the cooperative group of entities and social enterprises Entrem-hi, specifically in the program Junts Trenquem el Cercle! With the support of Obra Social La Caixa and managed thanks to an economic fund with contributions from a network of supportive companies committed to training, it promotes work experience and the hiring of people at risk of exclusion. Among the companies involved is La Granja.
