In an exceptional collaboration between La Granja Foods and Torrons Vicens, we present an innovative sponge cake that fuses tradition and modernity. Inspired by the rich heritage of Torrons Vicens, which dates back to 1775 in Agramunt (Lleida), this gluten-free, lactose-free, corn-free and cow's milk protein-free sponge cake combines the characteristic sponginess of our products with the unmistakable crunch of Torrons Vicens' natural almonds.

This sponge cake brings together the authentic flavor of almonds and the delicacy of traditional nougat. La Granja Foods' commitment to co-branding began in 2021, with the aim of supporting La Fageda's solidarity project. This collaboration has made it possible to produce high quality products through a business structure with a social purpose, which seeks to give meaning to the lives of people in vulnerable situations. As a result of this alliance, two sponge cakes and a mini muffin were launched on the market, the star ingredient of which is fresh natural yoghurt from La Fageda.

Thanks to the excellent reception from consumers, La Granja Foods decided to create a new line: Special Editions, which has opened the door to new collaborations with companies that share not only its commitment to quality, but also its know-how. In this line, innovative products have been incorporated such as the Magdalena de Miel con Própolis, developed together with Alemany 1879, defenders of the rural world. Chai latte or Matcha tea biscuits have also been added, in collaboration with Tea Shop, a benchmark brand in the world of high quality tea. And the latest collaboration has been with Torrons Vicens.

With a history dating back to 1775 in Agramunt (Lleida), Torrons Vicens is a company with a long tradition of making nougat. For this reason, the R&D Department of La Granja Foods has worked hard to develop new textures that combine the sponginess of the sponge cakes and muffins with the characteristic crunch and flavour of Torrons Vicens' traditional nougats.

Are La Granja Foods gluten-free products safe and suitable for celiacs?

We have built a new factory to be able to prepare and bake all our products free of gluten, lactose and corn, and thus comply with all the health requisites to avoid cross-contamination with the rest of preparation at La Granja Foods, thus guaranteeing the consumer safety.

All our gluten-free products contain less than 20 ppm of gluten, a parameter that the current regulations establish as the limit for the food to be suitable and safe for celiacs and the gluten intolerant.

What is the IFS FOOD certification?

At La Granja Foods, we have the IFS 2023 certificate with a High Level result, and we have now obtained the IFS certification annually for 9 years.

IFS Food is a food safety standard recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) to audit companies which manufacture food. Also companies that handle and package bulk food products, concentrating on food quality and safety of the products processed.

Is La Granja Foods gluten-free line a recent line?

La Granja Foods gluten-free line is indeed our most recent line, after 6 years of research and investment, more than 1000 product tests and manufacturing at a new bakery. All this path has been worth it to achieve this major challenge, a personal and professional aim for the whole La Granja Foods family.

This project arose through the precise specifications by the Celiac Association of Catalonia: A gluten, lactose and corn free product was required, with a different range to the one that existed on the market in order for the consumer to be yet another person and not special.

Do La Granja Foods gluten-free products contain lactose?

All the sponge cakes and fairy cakes in this line are lactose-free. As we explained in the previous question, this line arose from precise specifications by the Celiac Association of Catalonia, among these requests there was that for a gluten- and lactose-free product, so we set about producing it!
