Gluten Free Line
Special pumpkin and yuzu cake, gluten-free and lactose-free. From day one, making products the best we know how and ensuring great flavour has been an essential value for us. This was the case with the first traditional specialities that made us famous and it has continued to be so throughout our history, by continually incorporating new products into our range.
Staying ahead of the needs and desires of consumers has made us a benchmark for quality and innovation in our food products sector. In the 1980s, La Granja was a pioneer in creating specialities catering to different dietary needs, which today form part of our Diet range. Later we launched the Bio range, which uses only ingredients from organic farming. The Vegan range followed for strictly vegan consumption and the separate production of the Gluten-Free range of products.
In 1954, our grandparents had a grocery store next to their small chicken farm. There they sold eggs to the neighbourhood as well as all kinds of food.
Once the shop ran out of muffins, one of its most popular products. To please the customers, our grandmother decided to bake her own muffin recipe in her kitchen at home.
Its huge success surprised everyone, and more and more were sold. That's how La Granja was born and we learned something that we always keep in mind: working hard and doing everything as best as you can to satisfy your customers can only bring good things.
In the products of this new range we only use ingredients free of gluten, lactose and corn. We ensure their non-contamination throughout the process, from a production separate from the rest. This product has the La Espiga Barrada seal and license number ES-055-005, certified by the FACE (Federation of Celiac Associations of Spain) which belongs to the AOECS (Association of Celiac Societies of Europe).
Are La Granja Foods gluten-free products safe and suitable for celiacs?
We have built a new factory to be able to prepare and bake all our products free of gluten, lactose and corn, and thus comply with all the health requisites to avoid cross-contamination with the rest of preparation at La Granja Foods, thus guaranteeing the consumer safety.
All our gluten-free products contain less than 20 ppm of gluten, a parameter that the current regulations establish as the limit for the food to be suitable and safe for celiacs and the gluten intolerant.
What is yuzu?
Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit. It is a tangerine-like fruit with a lemon-like aroma. It has the appearance of yellow or green color.
The yuzu has a great aroma and comes from its peel, its interior is usually bitter, which together with its thick skin and large pips, makes it difficult to ingest, for that reason the yuzu in food is consumed through aromas.
What is the IFS FOOD certification?
At La Granja Foods, we have the IFS 2023 certificate with a High Level result, and we have now obtained the IFS certification annually for 9 years.
IFS Food is a food safety standard recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) to audit companies which manufacture food. Also companies that handle and package bulk food products, concentrating on food quality and safety of the products processed.
Is La Granja Foods gluten-free line a recent line?
La Granja Foods gluten-free line is indeed our most recent line, after 6 years of research and investment, more than 1000 product tests and manufacturing at a new bakery. All this path has been worth it to achieve this major challenge, a personal and professional aim for the whole La Granja Foods family.
This project arose through the precise specifications by the Celiac Association of Catalonia: A gluten, lactose and corn free product was required, with a different range to the one that existed on the market in order for the consumer to be yet another person and not special.
Do La Granja Foods gluten-free products contain lactose?
All the sponge cakes and fairy cakes in this line are lactose-free. As we explained in the previous question, this line arose from precise specifications by the Celiac Association of Catalonia, among these requests there was that for a gluten- and lactose-free product, so we set about producing it!
