Apples with Salted Caramel and Cookies

INGREDIENTS

  • As many apples as servings needed (green or red apples work well)
  • ½ cup of white sugar (100 g)
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 small tablespoon of butter
  • 6 small tablespoons of heavy cream
  • A pinch of salt

INSTRUCTIONS

It’s essential to prepare the salted caramel correctly for this recipe, so let’s break down this crucial step:

  1. In a small saucepan or pot, add the 100 g of sugar and the two tablespoons of water. Cook over medium heat, stirring slightly to ensure the sugar and water are well combined. Keep an eye on it as the syrup gradually cooks. The goal is to achieve an amber or golden color. Once the mixture reaches this golden hue, add the small tablespoon of butter while stirring continuously until fully incorporated. Turn off the heat and slowly add the six small tablespoons of heavy cream, stirring constantly until you achieve a smooth sauce. Add a pinch of salt and let it rest.
  2. Wash the apples and remove their stems using a knife. Insert a stick or wooden skewer into the center of each apple.
