In 1954, our grandparents ran a general store next to their small hen farm. They sold eggs to the neighbourhood along with all kinds of provisions. One day the shop ran out of cupcakes—one of its most popular items. To keep customers happy, our grandmother decided to bake her own cupcake recipe in her home kitchen. Their huge success surprised everyone; sales kept growing and growing. That’s how La Granja was born, and we learned something we always keep in mind: work hard and do everything as well as you can to delight your customers.

It started with the first traditional specialties that made us known, and it has remained so throughout our journey, as we continuously add new products to our range.

Anticipating consumers’ needs and wishes has made us a benchmark for quality and innovation in the food sector. In the 1980s, La Granja was a pioneer in creating specialties for different dietary needs, which today are part of our Diet range.

Later we launched the Bio range, using only ingredients from organic farming. Following that came our Vegan range for strictly vegan consumption, and our Gluten-Free and Lactose-Free products, produced separately from the rest.

In the products of this new range we use only ingredients free from gluten, lactose, and corn (maize). We ensure there is no cross-contamination throughout the entire process, thanks to production that is separate from the rest. This product bears the Crossed Grain symbol with licence number ES-055-003, certified by AOECS (Association of European Coeliac Societies).

All our gluten-free products contain less than 20 ppm of gluten, the legal threshold established to ensure a product is safe and suitable for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.

We hold the IFS 25 certification with a High Level score, and we have achieved the IFS certification annually for 11 consecutive years.
